HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Public Works Committee 1975-06-1200 00 RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Works Committee .,7June 12,1975 Committee:Chairman Dannels;Trustees Petrocine and Prosser Attending:Chairman Dannels;Trustees Petrocine and Prosser Also Attending:Town Administrator Hill,Director of Public Works Van Horn and Administrative Assistant Middaugh Absent:None SANITATION DISTRICT LAND EXCHANGE: The Director of Public Works presented a map showing a proposed land and building exchange between the Estes Park Sanitation District and the Town of Estes Park.This exchange would result in the Sanitation District obtaining the Water Department garage at such time as the new Water Department garage is ready for occupancy. The Committee recommends the Sanitation District be required to screen the garage building from the Tallant Park area with a sightly fence (not a chain link). Miscellaneous details of this property exchange can be worked out following a general decision as to agreement or disagreement between the two agencies involved. A map showing the exchange and other pertinent data is attached to these proceedings. 1975 STREET II4PROVEMENTS: The following estimates were presented to the Committee for the 1975 program for street improvement: 2”7,000 sq.yds.at $1.90 =$13,300.00 1”70,000 sq.yds.at .92 =64,400.00 $77,700.00 This project is scheduled to be completed by late June 1975. WEST RIVERSIDE PARK: Final details of the West Riverside Park development were pre sented to the Committee along with cost estimates totaling $13,000. The details of the estimate are attached. The Committee recommends approval of the project. PUBLIC WORKS GARAGE: Immediately following the committee meeting the Town was notified that the County has approved the 1.85 acre land trade near the landfill area.This land aquisition is necessary for the Public Works garage.Investigation of site locations may allow both the Public Works garage and the Water garage on this property. As authorized at a prior meeting,the Public Works Director is in the process of drawing the plans and specifications for the Public Works building. QQ RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Public Works Committee June 12,1975 Page Two (2) BLACK OUT CURTAINS -MEETING ROOI’#2: The Womens Club request for blackout curtains in meeting room #2 was discussed by the Committee.The Committee instructed the Director of Public Works to report back on type of curtains available along with cost estimates. GREENBELT: The Town Administrator and Trustee Prosser gave a report on the progress of Greenbelt acquisition. SAFER ROAD DEMONSTRATION PROGRAM: The State Highway Department has authorized a change in the Town’s program from force account to contract.The State will prepare the final plans and specifications. SIDEWALK -WEST END OF ELKHORN AVENUE: The Committee discussed the request recently presented regarding the construction of a sidewalk from the Fall River Bridge west on Elkhorn to the Trailer Park. After discussion,the Committee recommended to the Board of Trustees that any sidewalk construction in this area will be built by the property owners affected and not the general tax payers. ORDINANCE RELATING TO DEFINITIONS OF LOT SETBACK AND BUILDING LINES: After considerable discussion the Committee instructed Director Van Horn to work with the Town Attorney and reword the proposed ordinance. DRIVEWAY PERMIT -GEORGE BOOTH: The Committee recommends the driveway permit requested by George Booth be approved. BIKE RACKS: Information will be submitted to the Committee regarding bike racks. NUISANCE -SIDEWALKS: The Committee directed the Town Administrator to investigate what authority the Town has in abating a nuisance created by a business that results in blocking a sidewalk.
