HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Water Committee 1965-11-15RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Special Water Committee Meeting November 15,1965 Committee:Chairman Dannels;Trustees Swanson and Martin Attending:Chairman Dannels;Trustees Swanson and Martin Also Attending:Superintendent McCracken and Town Clerk Hill Mayor Graves reported Phillips-Carter-Osborn engineers have informed him the Glacier Creek transmission main was designed to operate at a capacity of about 650,000 gallons per day and now,due to the corrosion of the pipe, the capacity is about 420,000 gallons per day.The Phillips-Carter-Osborn engineers will survey the Glacier Creek transmission main and will submit estimates on the cost of making temporary improvements to increase the capacity of this system.These improvements may consist of a pumping system lo located at the Glacier Creek headworks.Preliminary studies indicate pumps producing 200 psi at the Glacier Creek headworks would double this transmission main’s capacity.The physical condition of the pipe will determine the maximum amount of water pressure that can be tolerated. At the completion of the study,a decision can be made as to how much pressure the line is capable of carrying. The Committee discussed the adoption of “readiness to serve”charges for all water customers.These would be annual minimum water charges.The Clerk was instructed to consult with C.H.Hoper &Associates,Water rate engineers,and obtain a recommendation as to the feasibility and/or suggested amounts of these charges.
