Special Water Committee Meeting
November 15,1965

Attending:Chairman Dannels;Trustees Swanson and Martin
Also Attending:Superintendent McCracken and Town Clerk Hill
Mayor Graves reported Phillips-Carter-Osborn engineers have informed him
the Glacier Creek transmission main was designed to operate at a capacity
of about 650,000 gallons per day and now,due to the corrosion of the pipe,
the capacity is about 420,000 gallons per day.The Phillips-Carter-Osborn
engineers will survey the Glacier Creek transmission main and will submit
estimates on the cost of making temporary improvements to increase the
capacity of this system. These improvements may consist of a pumping system lo
located at the Glacier Creek headworks.Preliminary studies indicate
pumps producing 200 psi at the Glacier Creek headworks would double this
transmission main’s capacity. The physical condition of the pipe will
determine the maximum amount of water pressure that can be tolerated.
At the completion of the study,a decision can be made as to how much
pressure the line is capable of carrying.
The Committee discussed the adoption of “readiness to serve”charges for
all water customers. These would be annual minimum water charges. The
Clerk was instructed to consult with C.H.Hoper &Associates,Water rate
engineers, and obtain a recommendation as to the feasibility and/or suggested
amounts of these charges.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
Dale G.Hill,Town Clerk
