Water Committee Meeting
July 6,1965

The following rural water applications were rejected by the Water Committee.
It is the Town’s policy not to grant additional out of town water connections.

The Water Committee discussed the necessary engineering to complete right-of-
way negotiations with Miss McGregor for the upper portion of the Black Canyon
wooden water line.The Committee decided to obtain an estimate of the engineer
ing fees from Phillips-Carter-Osborn.
Superintendent McCracken requested a public notice be inserted in the Estes
Park Trail to the effect that permits are required before water sprinkling
systems are connected to the Municipal water system.The Water Committee
recommends approval for this notice.
In his report of May,1965,Mr.C.H.Hoper recommends the Town charge the
following connect fees.

The Water Committee recommends the Board of Trustees adopt these connect
fees as suggested and that they apply to all not on a special contract.
Mr.John Ramey appeared before the Water Committee representing Mr.W.K.
Reeser.Mr.Reeser owns Lot 4,Charles Heights Subdivision.Mr.Reeser’s
water application was rejected on April 1,1965 because of the Town’s policy
not to extend water outside its corporate limits.Mr.Ramey requested a
letter from the Town of Estes Park stating their reasons for the rejection
of this application.The Water Committee recommends this letter be written
to Mr.Ramey.
Superintendent McCracken explained the reasons for the critical water
shortage now being experienced by the customers on the Devil’s Gulch water
line andlEw this situation should be corrected.Superintendent McCracken
suggests a 4”line be run from a point near the Schageman property in
Stanley Heights Addition A in a northeasterly direction to connect into the
now existing Devil’s Gulch water line.The estimated cost of this connection
is $5,000.00 plus the right-of-way.It was reported to the Committee Miss

property.The Water Committee recommends the Town proceed with the project
and that they request Mayor Craves to call a Special Board Meeting for the
necessary action.
Superintendent McCracken explained the solution to the water shortage on
the B.F.Rickel water line immediately west of the Charles Heights Sub
division.This line can be replaced at a cost of 22 cents per foot.The
line is 780 feet in length.The Water Committee recommends this project
proceed immediately.
The Water Committee discussed the Card water offered by Mr.D.R.Pulliam.
After considerable discussion,the Water Committee recommends they meet with
Mr.W.W.Wheeler,Water Engineer,and Mr.Ernest C.Hartwell,Town Attorney,
for further discussion.
There being no further business,the meeting adjourned—-
