HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Water Committee 1966-07-0500 00 RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Water Committee Meeting July 5,1966 Committee:Chairman Dannels;Trustees Swanson and Grove Attending:Chairman Dannels;Trustees Swanson and Grove Also Attending:Superintendent McCracken,Town Clerk Hill Absent:None The following water application was rejected: John Jones,to serve approximately 140 acres of land adjacent to the southwest edge of Estes Park.Mr.Jones requests permission to install a reservoir and pumping system to serve this area. The following water application was tabled until the main size can be established: John Jones,to serve nine acres adjacent to the Dekker Addition on the southwest edge of Estes Park.This nine acres is lo cated below the Town’s Blue Line. The following water applications were approved: Lester Philps,Sterling Cottages,Beaver Point,to serve one additional cottage. Robert A.Muller,one residence south of Upper Broadview. The Water Department reviewed the Accounts Receivable as of June 30,1966, and they are as follows: Ernest O’Dell,residence $33.60 Due to the financial condition of the Water Department and the need for additional capital improvements on the water system,the Water Committee discussed the probability of raising water rates. Superintendent McCracken reported that during the construction of the Fall River Reservoir and the water line leading to the Reservoir,an electric control line,belonging to Miss Edna MacLean,was cut.The electric control line was repaired in such a manner as to cause a short in the control line, resulting in continuous operation of her water pump.A survey of the electric bills indicate this electrical short caused an increase in the amount of $129.57 for the period of time involved.This accident will also necessitate Miss MacLean’s purchasing a new electrical control switch.The Water Commit tee decided to wait until the final costs can be tabulated before making a decision as to the Water Department’s liability in the above matter. Mr.W.Allen Steele has asked the Water Department to pay the Eastwood & Gavell bill in the amount of $62.00 for thawing at his residence this past winter.Superintendent McCracken stated the Water Department was in no way RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Water Committee Meeting (Continued) July 5,1966 responsible for the freezing of the Steele service line. recommends the Town not assume any responsibility in the mentioned bill. The Water Committee payment of the above- Superintendent McCracken reported the Rimrock Corporation have requested one connect fee or the equivalent amount in money ($175.00)in return for a right- of-way across their property.The Water Committee authorized Superintendent McCracken to spend $175.00 for the above-mentioned right-of-way. 1’APPROVED JUL 11 1366 TOWN OF ESTES PARK Town
