Water Committee Meeting
May 6,1968

It was reported that the Home Supply Ditch Company of Loveland,Colorado
will rent our surplus Conservancy District Water.
A letter,dated March 31,1968 from Mr.&Mrs.Arland Holmes in apprecia
tion for city water,was read to the Committee.
Mr.Ike James has offered 5/8 cfs of the Western slopewater rights to the
Town of Estes Park.The water committee reviewed the opinion of Mr.W.
W.Wheeler,Water Rights Consultant,rendered April 9,1964 on the above
mentioned water right.In accordance with Mr.Wheeler’s opinion,the
committee recommends this water right not be considered at this time.
A letter,dated March 27,1968,from Mr.C.H.Hoper and Associates,
Water Rate Engineers,was read to the committee.The committee recommends
Mr.Hoper’s suggestion to delay the water rate report until such time
as the comprehensive water study is completed,be accepted.
Water Applications:
Floyd Way,Beaver Point,for a residence to be constructed over a garage.
The Committee recommends approval.The Committee recommends Mr.Way be
charged the minimum (½acre)water rights fee.
Superintendent McCracken reported the labor to install the four inch
water line from the Everitt Lumber Company to a location near the Bufkin
residence,has not been paid to Eastwood and Gavell,contractors.The
Water Department furnished the material for this project and the proper
ty owners were to furnish the labor to install the line.After consider
able discussion,Chairman Dannels decided he would contact Ralph Machin
for more details on this subject.
Superintendent McCracken reported there is a possibility that Aspen Rocks,
located on Devils Gulch,may be used by the U.S.Government this summer.
Superintendent McCracken indicated this would necessitate the installa
tion of 3,000 feet of four inch water line at a cost of $2.50 per foot.
The Water Committee will consider this project at a later meeting.
The Committee recommends Water Superintendent McCracken be authorized
to purchase one hundred tons of screened 1¼”gravel at $2.50 a ton from
Eastwood and Gavell.This gravel will be used as a filler at the Glacier
Creek water plant.
The Committee recommends Superintendent McCracken be authorized to pur
chase a chain link fence from the Estes Park schools to be used at the
Fall River water plant.Additional fence will be purchased as needed.
There being no further business,the meeting adjourned.
