HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Water Committee 1972-08-31RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Water Committee Meeting August 31,1972 Committee:Chairman Prosser;Trustees Dannels and Sutter Attending:Chairman Prosser;Trustees Dannels and Sutter Also Attending:Town Administrator Hill,Superintendent McCracken Business Office Manager Duncan,Town Engineer Van Horn RURAL WATER APPLICATIONS: George Tritch:One rural residence located on Devils Gulch Road near Aspen Rocks.The Committee recommends a one year ex tension subject to the findings of a survey to be made by the Water Supt. and Town Engineer to determine the number of additional customers who may be served by the main in that area. Bill Watson,Jr.:One rural residence located on Lot 25,Charles Heights Subdivision.The Committee recommends approval. David Binns &Robert H.Bigler:One rural commercial building located on Dry Gulch Road,north of Lot 3, Block 8,Lone Pine Addition.The Committee recommends approval subject to location of the four inch extension by the Water Superintendent and deeding of the extension to the Town. BUDGET FOR 1973: The Committee recommends acceptance of the budget as presented. DEVILS GULCH WATERLINE STUDY: The Committee instructed the Water Superintendent and Town Engineer to determine the number of additional customers to be served by the Devils Gulch four inch main. SURPLUS WATER TANKS: The Committee authorized the Water Superintendent to sell two surplus steel water storage tanks with a capacity of approximately six thousand gallons. FISH CREEK WATER ASSOCIATION: Town Administrator Hill reported on a letter from the Fish Creek Water Association advising the Town of their intent to increase the size of the Fish Creek water line.The Committee recommends advising the Fish Creek Association that the Town will pay the material cost only in order 00 RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Water Committee Meeting August 31,1972 Page two FISH CREEK WATER ASSOCIATION(continued): to increase the size of the extension from four inches to six inches for the required distance of approximately 4,800 feet to Fish Creek Road. As per recent Water Department policy,the Fish Creek Association will obtain the necessary right—of—way and deed the line to the Town before obtaining service.Upon receipt of a deed from the Fish Creek Associa tion the regular extension contract may be executed.The Committee recommends following current policy. SCHOOL DISTRICT REQUEST: Town Administrator Hill reported that Park School District R-3 has received a request from the Fish Creek Association to extend the school water line to Fish Creek.The request was referred to the Town water engineers who advise that the school water line has no excess capacity due to present and future school requirements.The Committee recommends accepting approximately 1,445 feet of school water line for a future water system loop if the School District wishes to deed the line to the Town of Estes Park. TAPPING PROCEDURES: Business Office Manager Duncan reported on tapping procedures from near by communities.The Commiteee recommends additional staff work concerning the number of paid taps not being used and report back at the next meeting.
