WATER RATES:
A comparison of Estes Park’s water rates with those of Vail,Aspen and
Evergreen was reviewed by the Committee and the Hagemeisters and Gaskills.
The comparison showed Estes Park’s rates to be slightly higher than
Aspen or Vail but considerably less than Evergreen.A review of the
1980 water budget revealed that even with a 10%increase in rates and a
25%reduction in capital expenditures, that the ending balance will be
about $66,000 less than in 1979.A much larger water rate increase
would be necessary to enable the Water Department to become self suffi
cient. The Committee explained to the Hagemeisters and Gaskills that
operating costs are at a minimum now and that investments in future
water supplies necessitate the present rates and probably an increase.
UPLANDS AT FISH CREEK (SWEET PROPERTIES,INC.)WATER AGREEMENT:
A revised copy of the water agreement with the Sweet Properties,Inc.
regarding the waterline to serve the “Uplands at Fish Creek Planned
Unit Development”was submitted to the Committee. The revised agree
ment appears to have incorporated all of the Town Attorney’s recom
mendations and the Committee recommends approval subject to final review
by the Town Attorney.
HIGH DRIVE WATER DISTRICT AGREEMENT:
A letter dated June 6,1979 was received from DMJM-Phillips.Reister.
Haley,Inc.regarding the calculated cost of High Drive Water District’s
participation in the construction of the 8”water main along Marys Lake
Road. The Committee recommends the High Drive Water District agreement
be amended to include this obligation.
WATER MAIN EXTENSION REQUIREMENTS:
The Committee recommends the “Water Main Extensions Requirements”as
prepared by DMJM_Phillips.Reister.Haley,Inc.in May 1979 be adopted.
REPORTS:
MAY WATER USE showed a 7%decrease from May of 1978 and a 7%increase
over April 1979.
LABORATORY WATER TESTS will no longer be conducted by the National Park
Service but instead by the Upper Thompson Sanitation District. The
cost per test will double as a result of this change.
CRAGS WATERLINE -The Town Attorney has corresponded directly with Crags
Property Investments,Ltd.in an attempt to obtain the necessary title
information.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
