HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Water Committee 1980-04-100 BRADFORD PUBL.ISHING CO.,DENVER R E C 0 R D 0 F P R 0 C E E D I N G S Water Committee April 10,1980 Committee:Chairman Wagner,Trustees Dannels and Meusel Attending:All Also Attending:Mayor Tregent,Town Administrator Hill,Water Superin tendent McCracken,Finance Officer Duncan,Accountant Daniels MONTHLY WATER BILLING: The Committee discussed changing the water billing system to a monthly schedule which would be in conjunction with the Light &Power billing. Both utility meters would be read at the same time and the monthly charges would be billed on the same statement.The Committee felt that this change would provide a tremendous savings in gasoline and operating costs and recommends the Municipal Code be amended to allow this change. WATER RIGHTS FEE: The current market value of a unit of Colorado—Big Thompson water is approximately $2,500.The Town’s present water rights fee is based upon a unit price of $2,100.The Committee considered raising the water rights fee to correspond with current market values but took no action at this time. SECOND WATER BILL ADJUSTMENT FOR PINEVIEW COTTAGES: A letter dated March 25,1980 was received from Seymour Graham re questing the Town make a second adjustment of the Pineview Cottages’ water bill for excess water losses due to leaks.The Committee re viewed the situation and felt that the first adjustment of $477.10 was fair and that a second adjustment should not be granted. ORDINANCE TO ADD 95 CBT UNITS TO PERMANENT AGREEMENT: The Committee recommends adoption of the ordinance changing the Town’s most recently purchased 95 units of Colorado—Big Thompson water from the temporary use agreement to the permanent agreement. 1980 WATERLINE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM: The Committee recommends approval of the attached list of proposed 1980 water improvement projects. REPORTS: The City of Boulder has agreed to rent Estes Park 200 units of CBT water at $5 per unit. 1980 NCWCD quota has been set at 60%which means the Town’s 450 CBT shares will produce 270 acre feet of water this year. March 1980 water use showed a 27%increase over February 1980 and a 25%decrease from March 1979. There being no further business,the meeting adjourned.
