HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Water Committee 1981-01-15C BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO.,DENVER R E C 0 R D 0 F P R 0 C E E D I N G S Water Committee vJanuarY 15,1981 Committee:Chairman Wagner,Trustees Dannels and Meusel Attending:All Also Attending:Mayor Tregent,Town Administrator Hill,Water Super intendent McCracken INDIVIDUAL WATER METERS FOR MULTIPLE FAMILY UNITS -ORDINANCE REVISION: The Committee reviewed and revised a draft ordinance amending Ordinance #16—80 to require individual water meters on all customers that have separate ownership of the land upon which the improvement is situated. With regard to discontinuing service to nonpaying customers,the Town Attorney advised that the Town has the authority presently to discon tinue service to urban water customers as well as certify a lien on the property.The Committee recommends adoption of the revised ordinance. CCWCD REQUEST CONCERNING WINDY GAP WATER: Correspondence was received from the Central Colorado Water Conservancy District expressing an interest in the Town’s share of Windy Gap should there be a change in the Town’s participation in the future. CBT UNITS PURCHASE OFFER: The Committee discussed an offer to purchase 37 —75 units of Colorado Big Thompson water at $1,875 —$1,900 per share and decided not to accept the offer at this time. WATER RIGHTS FEE ACCOUNT: The Committee recommends that water rights fees collected after January 1,1981 be placed in a separate account for future water purchases. WATER SERVICE REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL HOUSE ON LOT 2,HYDE PARK SUBDIVISION: Thomas J.Neiweem submitted a request for water service for an additional residence on Lot 2,Hyde Park Subdivision should the lot be divided. Superintendent McCracken explained that only a 2”waterline serves that area which is not providing adequate pressure presently.Creating additional taps onto the substandard waterline could adversely affect the water service.The Committee recommends denial of the request at this time. REPORTS: December 1980 water use showed an 8.7%increase from November 1980 and a 20.67%increase from December 1979.Total water use for 1980 was .67%greater than 1979. Meter changes at the Big Thompson and Fall River treatment plants along with a new meter for the Black Canyon plant will cost approximately $2,000 —$3,000. Two employees of the Water Department will be attending plant operator school to obtain plant operator classification.
