HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Water Committee 1981-05-14BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO.,DENVER R E C 0 R D 0 F P R 0 C E E D I N G S Water Committee May 14,1981 Committee:Chairman Wagner,Trustees Dannels and Meusel Attending:Chairman Wagner,Trustee Dannels Also Attending:Mayor Tregent,Town Administrator Hill,Water Super intendent McCracken,Finance Officer Duncan Absent:Trustee Meusel BIG THOMPSON PLANT DRAIN LINE ACROSS GOLF COURSE: Boyd Williams and Bob Diers of the Recreation District requested that the Committee consider rerouting the Big Thompson Plant drain line around the north side of the golf course.They expressed concern that the drainline construction would disturb the sprinkler system.It is estimated that the longer route would cost an additional $58,000.The Committee directed the staff to obtain estimates for both routes. WATERLINE RIGHT-OF-WAY: Town Attorney White advises the Town must obtain legal rights-of-way for the replacement of the 8”waterline through University Heights. Superintendent McCracken will present revised costs of the necessary rerouting of this waterline at the next Water Committee meeting. DISCONTINUANCE OF WATER SERVICE TO TRITCH ON DEVILS GULCH ROAD: A letter dated April 24,1981 was received from George Tritch requesting to discontinue water service to 1650 Devils Gulch Road in accordance with Section 13.32.040 of the Municipal Code regarding discontinuance, termination and abandonment of service.The Committee recommends this request be approved. REQUEST TO VACATE ROAD EASEMENT ON PEDERSEN PROPERTY: Ms.Lucia Liley submitted a request that the public road easement which was dedicated to the Town of Estes Park by John and Dagmar Pedersen in 1963 across the Pedersen property located west of Village Acres be vacated.The Committee determined that the road and waterline ease ments across the Pedersen property are necessary and,therefore,recom mends denial of the vacate request. WATER TAP EXTENSIONS TO LOTS ALONG NORTH RIDGE LANE: Water taps were stubbed out to ten lots along North Ridge Lane in Lone Pine Acres prior to paving the road at a cost of $2,225.31.The Committee recommends that $300 be added to the tap fee of each of the lots affected. 1/2 TON 4WD TRUCK BIDS: Six bids were received for a 1/2 ton 4WD pickup truck.The Committee recommends the lowest bid meeting the bid specifications,Rosen Novak’s bid of $8,319.29,be accepted. REPORTS: 200 acre feet of water have been rented from the City of Boulder at $5 per acre foot. 1981 NCWCD quota has been set at 80%which means the Town’s 450 shares of Big Thompson water will produce 360 acre feet of water this year. A 75—85 million dollar bond issue,which includes the capitalization of interest,for the Windy Gap project will go to sale in June.This bond issue should result in a reduced assessment for the cities for the next 2—3 years. 0 0 BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO.,DENVER R E C 0 R D 0 F P R 0 C E E D I N G S Water Committee -May 14,1981 -Page 2 CSU has a small grant to test for giardia and may choose Estes Park as its testing location. C.R.Dohrn has filed a water damage claim for flood damage at his business on Manford Avenue which he believes resulted from a waterline leak. Water use in March 1981 showed a 4%increase from February 1981 and a 4.9%decrease from March 1980.April 1981 water use increased 58.6% over March 1981 and also increased 34.7%over April 1980.
