LAWN LAKE PURCHASE OFFER:
The Town was approached by Ray De Good,Attorney, and John Kness,
Manager,of a Ditch Company regarding purchasing Lawn Lake.An offer
was made previously about 1957 and the Town decided at that time not
to purchase the lake because of the condition of the dam and the junior
water rights involved.Because of the Town’s present involvement in
the Windy Gap project and augmentation suit, the Committee recommends
not pursuing the purchase of Lawn Lake at this particular time.
PRESCOTT REQUEST REGARDING WATERLINE REPAIR AT 1260 HILL DRIVE:
A letter dated February 2,1981 was received from John E.Prescott,
acting as agent for the owner, requesting the Town assume the costs
involved in returning water service to the residence at 1260 Hill
Drive. The letter claimed that the water service problems were due
to work being done on a water main nearby.Water Superintendent
McCracken explained that the Water Department’s work on the main could
not affect the service line to the residence and that the problems
were most likely due to the poor condition of the service line. The
Committee agreed that the work on the town main did not cause the
problem and recommends that the Town not assume any responsibility
for the costs of repair.
REPORTS:
January 1981 water use showed a 7.7%decrease from December 1980 and
an 8.9%increase from January 1980.
The Town is working with the Recreation District on reconstructing the
Big Thompson drain line through the golf course.Construction will
probably be delayed until fall.
Notification was received from Insurance Services Office of Colorado
that the Town’s fire insurance classification has improved from an “8”
rating to “7”.The new insurance rates became effective on February 1st.
Although the Larimer County Treasurer will not be taking legal action
against the bankruptcy court regarding collection of the Stanley Hotel
delinquent water bills, the Town Attorney advises that the Town will
receive payment when the bankruptcy debts are paid.
The 1981 American Water Works Association Convention will be held in
St.Louis on June 7th —11th.
