HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Water Committee 1983-06-08C C BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO.,DENVER R E C 0 R D 0 F P R 0 C E E D I N G S V Water Committee June 8,1983 Committee:Chairman Wagner,Trustees Dannels and Hix Attending:All Also Attending:Town Administrator Hill,Water Superintendent McCracken,Finance Officer Duncan,Clerk Jensen TRITCH REQUEST TO EXTEND TIME LIMIT ON WATER TAP: Mr.George Tritch appeared before the Committee to request a six— month extension on the “discontinuance of water service”to 1650 Devil’s Gulch Road in accordance with Section 13.32.040 of the Municipal Code regarding discontinuance,termination and abandonment of service.The Committee recommends the six—month extension be granted from this date (June 8,1983). RAW WATER PURCHASES: Town Administrator Hill reported that he had rented 137½acre feet of water from Ideal Basic Industries at a cost of $l.787.50,and 100 acre feet of water from the City of Boulder at a cost of $600.00. STANLEY HOTEL WATER BILL: Town Administrator Dale Hill reported that Attorney Gregory White had written to Mr.Frank Normali on March 15,1983,regarding the delinquent water bill at the Stanley Hotel in the amount of $15,623.74.A tax lien has been filed with the Larimer County Treasurer but the Treasurer is reluctant to sell the property due to legal ramifications.Attorney White stated that the Town has two alternatives for collecting the past-due bill,(1)do nothing and let the Treasurer collect at some future time;or (2)disconnect the water service to the Stanley Hotel.The Committee recommends that a 30—day notice of “Intent to Disconnect Water Service”be sent to Mr.Normali and if the bill is not paid by that time,the water service be disconnected. WATER USE -MAY 1983: May 1983 water use showed a +23.55%increase from April 1983,and a +22.58%increase from May 1982.The total percent of water accounted for as of May 13,1983,is 69.33%. REPORTS: Administrator Hill reported that he had contacted several water attorneys regarding the Town’s disposal of “Windy Gap”water. Everyone of the firms contacted stated that they would have a conflict of interest if they represented Estes Park in selling the Windy Gap water.Mr.John Whittemeyer,of Moses and Whittemeyer, suggested that Town Attorney Greg White represent the Town,and if Attorney White needed help,he could ask for specific counsel assistance. Administrator Hill stated that he had talked to Attorney White 0 BRADFORD PUBliSHING CO.,DENVER R E C 0 R D 0 F P R 0 C E E D I N G S Water Committee —June 8,1983 —Page 2 regarding an agreement to lease approximately 500 acre feet of water to the developers of the ski area on Twin Sisters should the project be developed.Attorney White will draw up the contract when a request is made for the water.
