HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Water Committee 1983-09-150 BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO.,DENVER R E C 0 R D 0 F P R 0 C E E D I N G $ /Water Committee September 15,1983 Committee:Chairman Wagner,Trustees Dannels and Hix Attending:All Also Attending:Mayor Tregent,Town Administrator Hill,Water Superintendent McCracken,Finance Officer Duncan, Walt Coiwell of DMJM,Clerk Jensen RURAL WATER APPLICATIONS: WOLF -Mr.and Mrs.Jack Wolf requested water service for their property located at Lot 1,Division 4,High Drive Heights.After a lengthy discussion,the Committee recommends approval of the water service, provided Mr.and Mrs.Wolf install the Code required 6”main. INGOLD -Rev,and Mrs.Fred Ingold requested water service for their property located at No.15 Larkspur Drive,(High Drive area).The Committee recommends approval of the water service,provided Rev,and Mrs.Ingold install the Code required 6”main. NAPIER -Mr.and Mrs.Jerry Napier requested water service for their property in the Eagle Cliff area (a portion of the NE¼of the SW¼of Sec.34,T5N,R73W of the 6th P.M.,Larimer County).The Committee recommends approval of the water service. WATER LINE BIDS: The Committee reviewed the bids for (A).the new 8”line from Everett Lumber across the river to the intersection of Highway 66 and Eagle Cliff Road;and (B).the 6”line from Beaver Point to VerStraeten Road. The following bids were received: A.A.Cox Construction Co (A)$31,340.50 (B)77,739.25 Total $109,079.75 Palmer Construction (A)$22,962.00 (B)58,510.00 Total $81,472.00 Munchiando Construction Co (A)$16,010.00 (B)53,900.00 Total $69,910.00 Mr.Walt Coiwell of DMJM Phillips-Reister-Haley,Inc.stated that after reviewing the bid documents,he would recommend the Town award the contract to Munchiando Construction Company.Mr.Coiwell stated that he will review Munchiando’s references upon returning to Denver and if everything is in order,he will prepare the Contract.The Committee recommends to the Town Board that Munchiando Construction Company be awarded the contract at a cost of $69,910.00. REPORTS: Water Main Depth -St.Vram Center Subdivision:Water Superintendent McCracken stated that the water line depth at the St.Vram Center Subdivision was at a depth of 39”rather than the Code required 60”. Mr.Todd Plummer of Van Horn Engineering explained that the line had been installed at the correct depth but the finish work on the roads, to meet road specifications,had cut the depth of the water lines to 0 BRADFORD PUBI.ISHING CO.,DENVER R E C 0 R D 0 F P R 0 C E E D I N G S Water Committee -September 15,1983 -Page 2 39”.Approximately 100’of line is out of compliance with the 60” depth requirement.A lengthy discussion followed.The Committee stated that the water line must be installed at the Code required 60” depth. Water Main Depth —Prospect Estates:Water Superintendent McCracken stated that the water line depth at the Prospect Estates Subdivision was also too shallow.The Committee stated that the water line must be installed at the Code required 60”depth. Water Main Depth -Hospital:The water main at the hospital is also at too shallow a depth.In a letter dated August 22,1983,Hospital Administrator Peter Jensen stated that the problem will be corrected. Water Superintendent McCracken will inspect the water line depth to be sure the water line is in compliance with the Code. July,1983 water use showed a +33.73%increase from June,1983,and a —1.94%decrease from July,1982.The total percent of water accounted for as of July 14,1983,is 81.09%.August,1983,water use showed a -11.62%decrease from July,1983,and a -0.50%decrease from August, 1982.The total percent of water accounted for as of August 13,1983, is 72.68%. 1984 WATER BUDGET: The Committee reviewed the 1984 Water Department Budget and will take the budget under advisement.
