RURAL WATER APPLICATIONS:
OLDHAM -Thomas Oldham,1200 Mary’s Lake Road,has requested
water service to his property.Water Superintendent Richards
advised the Committee of an existing 4”water main located on the
west side of the property which could adequately serve Mr.
Oldham.The Committee recommends approval of the rural water
application.
PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 13 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE:
The Committee reviewed the first draft of the amendment to
Chapter 13 of the Municipal Code dealing with Chapter 13.20 which
was prepared by Town Attorney White.The first draft proposed
amending the following sections:
1.13.24.060 Service Pipe Regulations.
2.13.28.030 Meter Requirements.
3.13.32.010 Tapping Charge -Water Rights Fee.
Discussion followed concerning “Master Metering”,
cross—connections,minimum depth of new service lines,perpetual
maintenance and repair of the distribution system,elimination of
the availability of the 1-¼”tap,and the water rights fee of
$1,430.00 for each individual dwelling unit including each
individual unit of an apartment,townhouse,condominium and/or
other cooperative having forty (40)fixture values or less.
Following further discussion,the Committee recommends Town
Attorney White and Staff continue amending the proposed ordi
nance,submitting the final draft at the next regularly scheduled
meeting for the Committee’s review.The Committee requested
Attorney White also attend the next meeting.Staff will communi
cate with various other municipalities concerning their master
metering regulations.
SERVICE CALLS AND WATER LINE LOCATION FEES:
Water Superintendent Richards advised the Committee he had
obtained further information from neighboring municipalities
regarding fees assessed to customers for service calls.Most
municipalities feel the service should be provided at no charge.
Discussion followed with the Committee recommending the Water
Department not charge customers for service calls and water line
locations.
REPORTS:
A draft copy of the Water Master Plan has been received.Meet
ings with McLaughlin Water Engineers will take place to discuss
possible revisions to the Plan prior to the final draft being
submitted to the Committee for their review.

The April Water Use Report indicated the amount of water being
accounted for as being 72.9%.Three water mains were broken
using an estimated 1,300,000 gallons of water.The amount of
water accounted for in May was 77.2%.Water Superintendent
Richards informed the Committee the Water Department is constant
ly making an effort to locate and correct water main leaks.
There being no further business,the meeting adjourned.
