PROSPECT MOUNTAIN WATER COMPANY -PRELIMINARY REQUEST FOR TOWN
WATER:
In a verbal request,Mr.Robert Heron/Prospect Mountain Water
Company, inquired as to the possibility of purchasing treated
water from the Town on a “wholesale rate”basis.Prospect
Mountain Water Company owns a water filtration plant and
distribution system.Koral Heights and Venner Ranch are among
those areas presently served by the Prospect Mountain Water
Company. It is Mr.Heron’s desire to eliminate the filtration
plant.Approximately 18,000 gallons of water per day serving 100
homes would be necessitated.Public Works Director Widmer
presented a map which identified a 125,000 gallon water storage
tank located in Prospect Mountain Estates Addition. The tank is
served by a pump station. The map also indicated a proposed
method of connection using a 6”water line.Discussion followed
concerning annexation, processing of future taps, possibility of
obtaining BT water rights, and establishment of a “wholesale
rate”.The Committee recommends investigating the possibility of
the Town entering into an agreement with Prospect Mountain Water
Company, whereby Mr.Heron would first agree to pay for prelimi
nary legal and engineering costs prior to further action.
REPORTS:
The April Water Use Report indicated the amount of water
accounted for as being 82.7%;the May report indicated 75%.The
Water Use Record Report has now been computerized which will
result in a time—savings of several hours per month.
The Fall River Plant was taken off-line May 23,1986 due to
failure of a pump.A new pump has been installed;however the
plant will remain off-line for approximately one more week to
allow the runoff and sediment to recede.
As discussed March 12,1986,an Ordinance concerning
cross—connections has been prepared.State law requires adoption
of an Ordinance or binding policy addressing cross—connections.
No further action was taken at this time to allow staff an
opportunity to review said Ordinance.
A meeting was held with the City of Westminster, the Northern
Colorado Water Conservancy District and staff concerning the sale
of Windy Gap Water. The City of Westminster has expressed an
interest in purchasing the Town’s Windy Gap Water should the
proposed sale to Western Water be unsuccessful.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
