LABORATORY EQUIPMENT -REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE:
In a memorandum dated August 11,1987,Assistant Public Works
Director Gerstberger summarized the need to improve laboratory
capability by the purchase of the following lab equipment:
pH Meter $725.00
Magnetic Stirrer 125.00
Turbidity Meter 1,195.00
Dissolved Oxygen Meter .720.00
$2,765.00
Director Widmer reported adequate funds have been budgeted for
such an expenditure. The equipment will be placed in the Glacier
Creek Plant;however it could be transported to any of the other
water treatment plants if necessary.Following discussion, the
Committee recommends approval of the request.
TRENCH COMPACTOR -REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE:
Included in the aforementioned memorandum,Assistant Director
Gerstberger requested the purchase of a trench compactor.
Currently, the Street Division loans its trench compactor to the
Water Department;this situation often creates a conflict due to
availability or mechanical operation. The Street Division’s
compactor is also too small for most Water Department needs. As
a result, the Department has rented the compactor from a private
firm.Adequate funds for this expenditure are also available in
the budget.Discussion followed, with the Committee recommending
the request be approved.
1988 BUDGET -REVIEW:
The Committee reviewed the preliminary copy of the Budget for
1988.
REPORTS:
The amount of water billed is up approximately 22%for the month
of August, reflecting an increase of approximately 10.7%for the
year.
94%of all treated water was accounted for in the Accountable
Water Report for August.
The Committee also reviewed the August Customer Service Report.
Director Widmer reported the National Park Service has authorized
the Town to begin construction for the Diversion Structure on
Fall River.Bids for the project are due September 15th.A
“special”Water Committee meeting will be held September 17th at
approximately 11:00 A.M.to review all bids.
