Director Dekker stated the 1988 Budget contained funds to pur chase two vehicles.A Bronco II will be used as a trade—in for one vehicle.Fleet Manager Shanafelt will prepare the bid specifications for two (2)4-wheel drive vehicles.The Committee recommends Director Dekker be authorized to request bids,return- ing to the Committee for further review. AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE PERSONAL COMPUTER. Finance Officer Vavra reported the 1988 Budget also contained funds to purchase a personal computer for the Finance Officer. One personal computer,located in the Finance Office,is being used by three employees;due to scheduling constraints,and the amount of workload,an additional computer is being requested. Through the “state bid”process,an NCR Model PC81O is available at a cost of $3,867,plus freight;list price is $6,445.By purchasing this unit,it could be tied into the NCR main-frame computer.Following additional research,a printer will also be purchased.The Committee recommends approval of the request. INTEREST RATES ON “DEPOSITS”. Finance Officer Vavra reported the Public Utilities Commission has issued guidelines pertaining to the amount of interest to be paid on deposits for electric accounts;the figure for 1988 is 6.01%.The Committee recommends the Town use the 6.01%figure for 1988. REPORTS: Approximately 12 firms have received RFPs for design of the new service building;local firms were included. With regard to “load management”at Hidden Valley,represen tatives from the Fort Collins Light and Power Department will assess the ski area operation on December 9th.Special equipment supplied by the Western Area Power Administration may be used to test various electrical equipment.Heat loss evaluations will be made and load factors will be reviewed.Representatives from the National Park Service also will attend. Director Dekker supplied various information pertaining to electromagnetic fields and childhood cancer. The Delinquent Account Report for November indicated 75 telephone calls were made,33 notes were placed at the customer’s resi dence,and 15 accounts were disconnected.The telephone calls and notes are down 11%;however,disconnects for non—payment are up 2%. 0 0 RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Light and Power Committee -December 3,1987 -Page two Hand-held meter reading devices are now available.Staff has been researching this item and will continue gathering informa tion. Projects underway include: Confluence Park -The overhead line work has been completed and work on the underground facilities will take place in the near future. Construction of the Cheley/Baldpate overhead line has been delayed due to snow. Completion of Streetscape III has resulted in an increased expenditure of approximately $2,000 in Christmas lighting. The Platte River Power Authority is reviewing an early retirement incentive for employees. A computer has been placed at the Light and Power Shop Facility.Sangamo Meter Company offered a computer free—of—charge with placement of an electric meter order. Meters are generally purchased from Sangamo thus the Depart ment was able to take advantage of the offer.The computer will be used to program electric meters with information such as demand,multiplier,constant,etc.,therefore eliminating the charge normally assessed by the manufacturer for this service.
