SERVICE BUILDING SITE SELECTION -DISCUSSION:
The Committee reviewed a memorandum dated September 4,1987
submitted by Director Dekker.Numerous sites have been inves
tigated to determine the best possible location for the proposed
service building.Following the Board’s recommendation,the
Public Works Department prepared and submitted site preparation
estimates for three preferred sites. The Committee also reviewed
a summary indicating the following six (6)potential sites and
estimated costs with regard to purchase price, site preparation
and cost of the building:
Site Total Estimated Cost
#1 Town Property
Alternate #1 $470,000
Alternate #2 $431,300
#2 $575,000
#3 $634,200
#4 $675,000
#5 $688,600
#6 $715,000
The difference between Alternate #1 and #2 is placement of the
building on the site.Consideration of relocating the shop
facility has been due to the potential hazard of methane gas
caused by the landfill.FEMA funds will be expended for this
facility. The existing building could be retained for use as a
storage warehouse for all Town departments.Following
discussion, the Committee recommends Director Dekker be
authorized to continue negotiations and return to the Committee
for further review.
