HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Light and Power Committee 1990-10-04PUBLISHING CO.RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS “Light and Power Committee October 4,1990 Committee:Chairman Aldrich,Trustees Dickinson and Hix Attending:All Also Attending:Town Administrator Kiaphake,Light and Power Director Dekker,Electrical Engineer Matzke,Clerk O’Connor Absent:None Chairman Aldrich called the meeting of the Light and Power Committee to order at 2:00 P.M. OFFICE EQUIPMENT -AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE. Cabinet/Sheet Feeder.Staff requested authorization to purchase a cabinet stand and high-capacity sheet feeder for an existing copy machine located in the utilities/engineering section.The total expenditure is $1,049,and adequate funds are available in the 1990 Budget for this equipment.The Committee recommends approval of the expenditure. Computer Mapping Software.Staff also requested authorization to purchase an AutoCad drafting software package for installation on the Electrical Engineer’s personal computer.This purchase would be the first step in implementing a computer mapping system.Quotes received were as follows: Entre Central $2,250 TAG Associates 2,350 ACIS 3,000 Additional hardware and associated equipment has been re-budgeted in 1991. Further discussion pertaining to the conversion of existing maps to a computer format compatible with AutoCad will take place with other departments.The Committee recommends approval of the low bid in the amount of $2,250 submitted by Entre Central. REPORTS. In conjunction with Public Power Week 10/7-13/90,the Platte River Power Authority has placed their Rawhide Generating Plant display in the lobby area.Staff is working on a safety program involving the elementary school, and a breakfast has been planned on October 11. Director Dekker reported on PRPA’s 1991 Budget.Major points include projected revenues of 153.9 million and expenses of 141.1 million.PRPA does not anticipate a wholesale power rate increase in 1991. Lynda Vogel will be renovating the “Old Lady in the Shoe”Christmas Scene. The Department will begin installing the Christmas Decorations in the near future.Such lighting will not be installed along the Riverwalk. Staff reported on the recent power outage which occurred September 18 (caused by lightening which struck the Flatiron switchyard in Loveland),the Highway 36 street lights,and displayed sample equipment used during installation of underground facilities for the Riverwalk Project.The Committee viewed a slide program on the Riverwalk Project,followed by a tour of said project.
