-Committee Report
September 20,1965
COMMITTEE:Brodie -Tregent -Hunter -Sweetlartd -Bailey
ATTENDING:It
1.The Committee entered into a discussion regarding publicity of the new
Light and Power rates which become effective September 20.The Committee
agreed that the kind and extent of publicity should be a decision of the
Board of Trustees. The Committee did recommend that any newspaper release
be supported in detail according to the Ordinance and according to the
approved changes.
2.The Committee discussed at length the $10.00 residential deposit which
has been the policy for the past 20 years. It was generally agreed by
the Committee that a deposit in the amount of $10.00 does not provide the
Town with sufficient guarantee for the purpose intended. The Committee
recommends that the policy be changed to provide for a $25.00 deposit on
all rental accounts. This would require Board of Trustee approval.
3.Permission was requested from the Committee by Bailey to ask for a
demonstration of the Zerox Copy Machine.According to available figures,
cost of operation would not exceed that which the Town is now paying
and use of this type of dry copier would allow far greater use than we
are now getting from the present machine. The Zerox dry copy machine is
obtained on a lease contract at approximately $30.00 per month. The
Committee granted approval to have the machine demonstrated.
4.Permission was given to Sweetland to ask for bids on a new 4-wheel
drive Jeep to replace #19.Committee is of the opinion that complete
repair will not justify the cost.
5.Sweetland requested authority from the Committee to purchase 10,000 lbs.
of No.4.0 copper;10,000 lbs.No.4.0 solid;and 16,000 lbs.of No.6.0 HD
bare copper,at an estimated cost of approximately $18,000.Delivery
date would be after the first of the year.
