Committee Report
June 14,1965
COMMITTEE:Brodie —Tregent -Hunter -Sweetland -Bailey
ATTENDING:
1.This special meeting was called by Chairman Brodie to determine what
action should be taken regarding the proposed electric rate reduction.
2.After a lengthy discussion of all factors,it was the opinion of the
Committee that the proposed new rates be adopted and placed into effect
so as to become effective with the July billing. This decision was
reached following numerous conferences with the engineering staff of
the Utilities Commission. The new rates as presented would provide
the Town with a fair and equitable return.
3.The total rate reduction would be in the amount of approximately
$36,000.00 based on 1964 revenue. This would amount to an approximate
10 percent reduction.
4.The Residential and Domestic reduction approximately $16,000.00.
5.The Commercial Lighting reduction approximately $19,000.00.
6.The Large Combined Light and Power would be newly established and
apply to loads of 150 KVA transformer capacity and over. This would
apply to three accounts;namely, the YMCA,the new High School building,
and the new Sanitation Plant.
As nearly as can be established, this would provide for a reduction
to the YMCA of 14.4 percent, the new high school building of l4.
percent, and since th’e Sanitation Plant is new,a comparison cannot
be made.
The Committee recommends that a continued study be made of the three
accounts above named, and that demand meters be installed in order to
determine actual load requirements to serve.
7.The proposed rates are presented to the Board of Trustees for considera
tion and approval.
The Committee gave unanimous approval to Sweetland for the purchase of
two new truck radios to be installed on the new bucket hoist truck and
jeep truck at a cost of approximately $700.00 each, installed.
