Light and Power Committee Meeting
February 17,1969

Absent:Trustee Petrocine.
Superintendent Sweetland reported the department has not had time to
install any of the proposed street lights.
It was reported the firm of C.H.Hoper and Associates are progressing
with the rate study and that they will meet soon with this Committee.
The Committee recommends the department be authorized to prepare spec
ifications for a 3/4 ton truck.This will replace truck number 26.
Invitations to bid will be limited to local licensed dealers.Bids will
be opened at the regulaf meeting of the Board of Trustees on March 24,
1969.
A new pole use agreement between the Town of Estes Park and the Mountain
States Telephone Company is now being reviewed by the Town Attorney.
Superintendent Sweet land informed the Committee that 2 miles of the
south line needs rebuilding.The Committee recommends the department
be authorized to obtain bids on the necessary copper wire.
The Committee discussed at length the subdivision ordinance and it’s
requirements as it applies to the light and power department.Specifically,
the discussion was on the subjects of underground distribution systems and
subdivision street lighting requirements.The Committee suggests the Board
of Trustees examine these requirements along with a study of the provision
allowing platted subdivision lots to be divided.
The Committee recommends the purchase of a new air hammer as follows:
Purchase price $595.00
Less trade in 150.00
Less repair bill 139.05
Less rental bill 365.00
Credit bill $59.05
Superintendent Sweetland reported that due to proposed private operation,
he is planning electric service to some National Park Service Campgrounds.
This electric study may require certain power exchanges.
The Bureau of Public Roads highway project south of Allenspark will re
quire the relocation of about sixty three power poles.The Town will be
reimbursed for the costs involved.A contract with a private company is
planned for this project.
Business Office Manager Duncan discussed present policy regarding customer
deposits.The Committee instructed Mr.Duncan to enforce the policy as
now contained in the Municipal Code of the Town of Estes Park.

The new lighting for parking lot number one was discussed as to timing
of installation.
Superintendent Sweetland will obtain cost estimates for the installation
of electric heat in the County Court building.
There being no further business,the meeting adjourned.
