Light and Power Committee Meeting

APPA SUPERVISION COURSES:
The Light and Power Committee recommends Assistance Superintendent Dekker
attend the supervisor’s courses in Denver on March 16,17 and 18,1971,
at a total cost of $185.00.The Committee also recommends Foreman Dean
attend the supervisor’s courses in Denver on April 6,7 and 8,1971,at
a total cost of $185.00.
BUREAU OF RECLAMATION CONTRACT:
Superintendent Sweetland explained the change in the new power contract
with the Bureau of Reclamation.The Colorado River storage power will be
increased from 400 KW to 850 KW for the period of time from April through
September.The Committee recommends the Board of Trustees approve this
contract.
MASTER LOCKS:
The Committee recommends the Light and Power Department be authorized to
purchase new master locks as needed.The Committee suggested the Light
and Power Department cooperate with other departments in this project.
RADIOS:
The Committee reconmiends the Light and Power Department be authorized
to purchase four monitor type radios similar to the type used by the
Fire Department at a cost of $156.68 each.
SHUT-OFF PROCEDURE:
The Committee recommends that customers appearing on the shut-off list
more than two consecutive months be shut off after written notices only.
Phone calls to customers appearing on the shut-off list more than two
consecutive months be discontinued.The shut-off notices shall contain
notification of the discontinuance of the phone policy.
ALL ELECTRIC RATES -DEPOSITS:
The Committee recommends the deposit policy on the all-electric rate,
residential accounts shall be the same as required on commercial accounts.
SCHOOL ELECTRIC RATE:
Superintendent Sweetland discussed the progress on obtaining additional
information for the school electric rates.Superintendent Sweetland will
report the information to the Committee upon its completion.

ADDITION TO SUBSTATION:
The Committee discussed the needed addition to the substation.The
Committee instructed Superintendent Sweetland to have proposals pre
pared by consulting engineers for the proposed addition.
NATIONAL PARK SERVICE EXTENSION:
Paul Wykert,Assistant Superintendent,Ralph R.McFadden,Supervisor
of Power and Telephone,Paul Mulcahy of the National Park Service and
Ted James,concessionaire in the National Park,appeared before the
Light and Power Committee to discuss the underground extension to
upper and lower Hidden Valley.Mr.McFadden stated that it appeared
at this time that the Park Service was in a position to finance all
but about $30,000 of the cost of the extension.Mr.McFadden feels
that an adequate agreement can be entered into between the Park Service
and the Town of Estes Park for the addition of this extension.After
considerable discussion the Committee decided Superintendent Sweetland
will write a letter to the Park Service enclosing copies of our exist
ing extension policies and rates.This letter will include the estimated
cost of the extension to both upper and lower Hidden Valley.A formal
reply from the Park Service will be expected in the near future.
There being no further business,the meeting adjourned.
