Light and Power Committee Meeting

STREET LIGHTING REVIEW AND REQUESTS:
Town Administrator Hill read a letter from the State Department of Highways
concerning energy conservation as related to highway lighting.The Committee
recommends that every other street light be disconnected except those in
areas where security is a primary concern or where intersection lighting
is necessary.The Committee also instructed the Street Light Committee,
composed of Light and Power Superintendent Dekker,Town Administrator Hill
and Police Chief Ault to review the street light plan and report back at
the next committee meeting with recommendations for placement of lights,
consideration for street lights in new subdivisions and revision of the
present plan using guidelines from the State of Colorado.
LIGHT AND POWER RATE STUDY:
Superintendent Dekker advised of an additional overall increase in the
cost of purchased power effective in Jantrnry,1974.The Committee recoin-
mends a rate study as proposed by R.W.Beck ard Co.,on July 26,1973.
NEWSPAPER ARTICLE REGARDING ELECTRIC SPACE HEATERS:
Superintendent Dekker presented for approval a newspaper article entitled
“Fuel Shortages Threaten Electrical Overloads”.The Committee recommends
printing in the local newspaper.
ENERGY SAVING GUIDE BOOK:
Superintendent Dekker presented an R M E L sponsored energy conservation
publication which costs 20 cents each.The Committee recommends ordering
250 copies for customer distribution.
EQUIPMENT FOR LIGHT AND POWER SERVICE BUILDING:
Superintendent Dekker presented tool and equipment quotations for floor jack,
battery charger,truck washer,vacuum cleaner and miscellaneous hand tools.
The Committee recommends approval.
PRPA RATE INCREASE CONTRACT:
Superintendent Dekker presented information concerning the overall rate
increase to be effective in January,1974,which requires Town Board approval.
The Committee recommends that Town Board approve the contract document for
execution at such time as the contract is available from PRPA legal counsel.

SNOW VEHICLE:
Superintendent Dekker presented cost information on new and used snow vehicles
and pointed out the need for such equipment during deep snow.The Committee
recommends that the Superintendent secure additional information and report
back at the next meeting.
There being no further business,the meeting adjourned.
