HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Light and Power Committee 1974-06-06oc RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Light and Power Committee Meeting June 6,1974 Committee:Chairman Petrocine;Trustees Wagner and Burgess Attending:Chairman Petrocine;Trustee Wagner Also Attending:Town Administrator Hill,Superintendent Dekker, Trustee Prosser Absent:Trustee Burgess RATE STUDY: Superintendent Dekker presented a letter and charts prepared by Stuart Jordan of R.W.Beck and Associates.Mr.Jordan’s letter stated that in order for the Town to maintain proper operating ratios,it will be necessary to increase electric rates.The committee recommends these increases in whatever amounts the rate study proves feasible and justifiable. YANPA PROJECT: Superintendent Dekker reported on the PUC Hearing in Craig on May 15 and 16,1974 concerning the application for a certificate of convenience and necessity to construct the Craig electric generating station and related facilities.Since there was no substantial opposition,the Commission recommended approval on June 5,1974. CML MEETING AND SCR #6: It was suggested that those going to the Colorado Municipal League Conference participate in discussions on SCR #6.This will help in our efforts to present the details to the general public prior to the November elections. POWER TRANSFORMER #1: Superintendent Dekker reported that one load tap changer is not operating. Westinghouse engineers should be able to repair it by mid June. FOUL WEATHER GEAR: Superintendent Dekker requested heavy duty rain gear for Light and Power employees.Costs would be approximately $11.00 each for pants and coats. Approval was given to purchase necessary gear. MATERIAL COSTS,DELIVERY AND ESCALATORS: Power line material costs are increasing rapidly,delivery on many items is very poor and escalators are built into most quotations now.For these reasons,Superintendent Dekker reported that the Light and Power Department is carrying a larger inventory than usual. STREET LIGHTING: Approval was given to install a street light at the intersection of Business 34 and Bypass 34 on Fall River Road. /OQ RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Light and Power Committee Meeting June 6,1974 Page two (2) ELECTRIC HEAT: Superintendent Dekker reported that electric heat applications have increased from 15%of the total new applications in 1971 to 41%during the first four months of 1974.A workshop is being conducted today in the Platte River Power Authority offices in Fort Collins to discuss policy, insulation standards and power capacities required for electric heat installations. CANU: B.O.M.Duncan will attend a Colorado Association of Municipal Utilities meeting in Delta,Colorado tomorrow. There being no further business,the meeting adjourned.
