IN HOUSE COMPUTER SYSTEM:f
The Committee discussed at great length obtaining an in house corn—
puter to handle utility billing as well as other accounting functions.
Computer systems by IBM,Burroughs Corporation and NCR were reviewed
by town staff and Dick Fisher of Wayne Hunt Company and NCR was the
unanimous recommendation.Dick Fisher assured the Committee that the
NCR system could adequately handle the Town’s needs and be sufficiently
operated by town staff. The Committee directed the staff to research
and compare one more computer system, namely Automated Business Systems,
with NCR’s proposal especially with regard to licensing fees.If in
the staff’s analysis the Automated Business System computer will not
adequately handle our municipal program, then the Committeerecommends
proceeding with the NCR system prior to the September 27th proposal
deadline.
