LIGHT &POWER SHOP AREA DRAINAGE PROBLEM:
Light &Power Director Dekker discussed with the Committee a storm
drainage problem in the Light &Power shop area.A culvert at the
northwest corner of the shop area brings the drainage from the west
side of the road into the shop area and on into the dump.He reviewed
the situation with Public Works Director Widmer and the most economical
solution appears to be removing the culvert and restricting the drainage
to the west side of the town owned road. This would involve installing
about seven culverts at driveway entrances. The Committee recommends
proceeding with redirecting the drainage as discussed.
NEW POWER RATES -ADVICE LETTER NUMBER 17:
The PUC hearing on the recent rate filing has been suspended until
January 1981.It is estimated that this delay will cost the Town about
$100,000 inlost revenue and additional staff and attorney costs.
Cy Wood appeared before the Committee offering his computer programming
services to assist the Town and certain electric customers in deter
mining their most beneficial rate classification under the new rate
structure. He proposed to perform this service on a per job basis
rather than hourly rate basis. The Committee suggested he submit a
detailed proposal.
WHOLESALE &RETAIL POWER RATE INCREASES:
The wholesale power rate will be increasing 22%which will require an
8—10%retail rate increase to cover this increase. The Committee
recommends commencing with the procedure for the retail rate increase.
RULE 13 DISCONTINUANCE NOTICE &DISCONNECT/CONNECT FEES:
The Committee reviewed sample letters of “Notice of Discontinuance of
Service”to be used by the Town as a result of Rule 13 which became
effective on October 1st.The Committee also discussed increasing the
present disconnect/connect fee of $5.00.This $5 fee was established
in the late 1960s but present costs of disconnecting and connecting
service total $13.65 per disconnect/connect.The Committee recommends
this fee be changed to $15 per disconnect/connect during regular busi
ness hours and $30 per disconnect/connect during overtime hours and
holidays.
CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS ON HIGHWAY 34 WEST:
Although additionalChristmas light decorations were installed on Highway
34 West last year, property owners in the Fall River Road area will be
submitting a formal request for Christmas lights to be extended even
farther west on Highway 34.
