CABLE TELEVISION -STORER CABLE COMMUNICATIONS:
Joe Tennessen of Storer Cable Communications expressed his company’s
interest in purchasing the cable television service in Estes Park
from Liberty Communications Company and requested the Town’s considera
tion of Storer as a possible future owner/operator of the system. He
explained that his company would completely rebuild the system, which
could be accomplished in one summer, offer 36 channels, and continually
update the system and programming.Mr.Tennessen stated that two way
hookups would be provided all schools within town limits.
Storer Cable Communications, which owns over 300 systems,is presently
providing cable television service to three communities in Colorado
and the base rate is about $7.50.Mr.Tennessen stated that the base
rate might be slightly higher for Estes Park due to inflation and
added costs but that it should not run more than 50ç —$1.00 higher
than other current base rates.
He stated that Storer is financially able to take on the system and
provide the necessary updating and foresees profit in the future
growth of the Estes Park system.
Mr.Tennessen agreed to forward copies of their agreements with other
Colorado communities to the Town for its review. The Committee
informed Mr.Tennessen that the Town is very interested in Storer Cable
Communications providing cable television service in Estes Park.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
