“Light and Power Committee
June 2,1983
Committee:Chairperson Houston,Trustees Graves and Wood
Attending:All
Also Attending:Mayor Tregent,Town Administrator Hill,Light
and Power Director Dekker,Finance Officer
Duncan,Clerk Jensen
PATE REVISION:
Platte River Power Authority will be lowering wholesale rates to
municipalities by approximately five percent, which should lower
the retail rates to customers between two and three percent.
Director Dekker asked the Committee if the Town Staff should file
with the Public Utilities Commission to lower the retail rates
to customers. If the paper work is started now,the July 8th and
9th meter reading would be at the old rate and the August meter
reading would be at the new rate. The Committee recommends to
the Town Board that the Staff file with the P.U.C.for the rate
reduction.
LOAD CONTROLLER PROMOTION:
Director Dekker reported that he had talked to the electricians
and several suppliers for demand controllers. It was the general
consensus that the best way to inform the public of the cost
effectiveness of demand controllers (for all electric customers)
was to have the electricians and the Town do a promotional effort
with the Town supplying the advertising.Newspaper and radio
advertising in Estes Park would cost approximately $1,470.90 for
ten weeks.Director Dekker stated that this plan seemed more
feasible than the Town purchasing the demand units and selling
them to the customers. The Committee recommends that the Town
provide the advertising for the demand controller promotional
program.
REPORTS:
Attorney Greg White is drafting the letter to the Rocky Mountain
National Park Service requesting permission to reconstruct the
dam and hydro plant.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
