CASCADE DAN and HYDRO PLANT FACILITIES:
Director Dekker advised the Committee of four Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA)options available regarding the hydro
plant facilities:1.Rebuild Cascade Dam,Penstock and Hydro
Plant to pre-flood condition;2.Build diversion structure at
dam site and rebuild hydro plant and penstock using flexible
funding;3.Build diversion structure and related facilities
only (not using flexible funding);4.Do not rebuild any of the
hydro facilities and use flexible funding for other capital
projects. The Committee discussed the various advantages and
disadvantages of each option.A preliminary preference, based on
the feasibility study, would be to build the diversion structure
which would be most cost—effective. The Park Service has ex
pressed an interest in acquiring the Town’s rights located at the
Cascade Dam.Pending further information,no action was taken at
this time.
