REQUEST FROM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE REGARDING CHRISTMAS LIGHTING:
Barry Meyers,Chamber of Commerce,presented a tentative schedule
of events beginning November 29th and concluding December 22nd
for the “Christmas In Our Village”Holiday Season Festival.The
Chamber of Commerce was requesting the lights be turned on one
week ahead of schedule,November 29th,the day after Thanksgiv
ing.Mr.Meyers stated the Advertising Committee is negotiating
with a television station to promote the Fall and Winter Season.
Director Dekker submitted an estimated cost analysis for lighting
the Christmas decorations one week early indicating an increase
of approximately $642.00.The lights would be removed the first
working day after New Year’s.The Committee recommends the
aforementioned request be approved.
REQUEST TO PECEIVE “NEW ACCOUNT”LISTING -CHARGES:
Light and Power Director Dekker informed the Committee the First
Baptist Church of Estes Park has requested a list containing all
new accounts.The Committee discussed establishing a policy and
fee schedule (possibly $5.00 for non-profit organizations and
$10.00 for the private sector)for the listing and tabled the
matter to allow Finance Officer Vavra to investigate the “out of
pocket”expenses,returning to the Committee for further review.
FINANCE OFFICE -AUTHORIZATION TO GATHEP INFORMATION CONCERNING
PERSONAL COMPUTER:
Finance Officer Vavra requested authorization to gather informa
tion regarding the purcha.se of a personal computer with forecast
ing and word processing capabilities.Following discussion,the
Committee recommends Finance Officer Vavra be authorized to
obtain information regarding the purchase of a personal computer.
REPORTS:
A meeting will be held July 22,1985 between the Town and FEMA to
discuss the details on flexible funding.
The Western Area Power Administration (WAPA)will be rebuilding
their switchyard.Arrangements have been made with WAPA to
install a portable substation during conversion.
Platte River Power Authority is running smoothly.Electric rates
should remain the same for approximately four years.
Finance Officer Vavra submitted a recap of utility shut-offs for
June which indicated 46 telephone calls were placed,18 notes
were left at the customer’s residence,and 3 accounts were
shut-off.
Acting upon a customer’s request,Finance Officer Vavra prepared
an informational memorandum regarding Town policy on service
deposits.The Committee reviewed the memorandum and recommended
it be approved.

NCR is proceeding with the program to add the inventory to the
main frame computer.The inventory package should be on line by
the first of the year.
The personal computer which was authorized along with the inven
tory package March 14,1985 for the Light and Power Department
will be deferred until 1986.
With Cable Systems,Inc.’s recent increase of rates,Director
Dekker informed the Committee a number of complaints have been
received.The Cable Systems Office is aware of the bad reception
on Channels 6,9 and H3O and they have contacted a technician who
is scheduled to investigate the system August 5,1985.
Delivery has been made on the 1985 Century Sedan which was
authorized March 14,1985.
The Committee reviewed the policy regarding requests for street
lights and recommends retaining the existing policy whereby
requests are submitted to the Police Department and Light and
Power Committee for review.
The Rocky Mountain Electrical League Fall Conference will be held
at the Tamarron Resort north of Durango September 11,12,13,
1985.
The Committee discussed printing of the utility bills.A year’s
supply,which is 100,000 bills,is required at a cost of approx
imately $6 —8,000.The Committee recommends Officer Vavra
obtain information from neighboring municipalities,which will
include the possibility of using postcard bills,ordering an
ample supply of utility bills to carry through the end of the
year,submitting a report to the Committee for their review.
