RESOLUTIONNO.353ARESOLUTIONOfTHEESTESPARKURBANRENEWALAUTHORITYAPPROVINGACONTRACTPROPOSALFROMHEATHCONSTRUCTIONCOMPANYFORDEMOLITIONOfTHEBOB’SAMOCOSTRUCTUREWHEREAS,animmediatepriorityoftheEstesParkUrbanRenewalAuthorityisthedevelopmentofWiestPlaza,thenextcomponentoftheRiverwalkanditsamenities,whichincludestheredevelopmentoftheBob’sAmocosite;andWHEREAS,theexistingstructureonthesiteistheepitomeoffunctionalandeconomicobsolescence,isaestheticallydispleasing,addsnegativevaluetotherealpropertyhasproventobeaneconomicandadministrativeliability;andWHEREAS,thedevelopmentofWiestPlazaasplannedwilleliminatesomeeighteenparkingspaces,whichcanbelogicallyreplacedintheshortrunbyusingtheBob’sAmocositefortemporaryparking,priortotheimprovementoftheWiestParkingLot,andwhileasuitabledeveloperofthepropertyisbeingfound;andWHEREAS,acontractproposalhasbeenreceivedfromHeathConstructionCompanytodemolishtheoldgasstationstructureandpreparethesiteforuseastemporaryparkingatanestimatedcostnottoexceed$33,342;andWHEREAS,EPURAstaffhasinvestigatedthetemporaryimprovementoftheaestheticsofthesitetoincludetheplacementofflowerplantersandappropriatesignagerelatedtotheavailabilityofthesiteforredevelopment,whichcanbeaccomplishedforanominalcost.NOW,THEREFORE,BEITRESOLVEDBYTHEESTESPARKURBANRENEWALAUTHORITYTHAT:TheChairmanisherebyauthorizedtoenterintocontractwithHeathConstructionCompanyforbuildingdemolitionandsitepreparationasdescribedaboveandtheExecutivedirectorisauthorizedtoproceedtoplantheabove-referencedtemporaryaestheticimprovements.ADOPTED,this14thdayofJuly,2004.ESTESPARKURBANRENEWALAUTHORITYAitL1—ChairmanATTEST:
