Minutes of a Special meeting of The Estes Park Planning Commission*
Meeting held, in the Town Hall on June 21, 1963» at 4:00 P.M.
Present: Harry Miles, Chairman, Louis Canaiy, Chas. F* Hix, Dr* J*0* Mall*
Also Present: Verne H. Fanton, Secretary, Dale Hill Town Clerk*
Absent: Val Bernard, R.C. Brodie, Joe Connelly, C*M* Hunter, Carl S^fanson*
This special meeting called as a result of the action taken at the last
regular meeting regarding RE zoning. i
Estes Park, LOCAL: I
Mr. E.S* Erickson, representing the U.S. Forest Service, filed a petition
at the last regular meeting, asking that certain land located in Block
2, of the Reclamation Subdivision be re zoned to a G-1 Commercial District.
After reviewing the request, the Commission ordered the following Public
Notice given* That the Commission would consider re zoning Lots,
2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 11, of Block 2, Reclamation Subdivision, from the
existing R Residential District to a C«1 Commercial District*
( this would place all of Block 2 in a 0-1 Commercial Zone).
The Secretary reported that legal publication had been complied with,
and the Chairman proceeded with the hearing.
Mr. E.S. Erickson spoke in favor of the re zoning.
Mr. Bill Ramsel, representing the Lutherin Church spoke in favor of re-zoning*
Mr. Bert McConnell and Mr. George Jackson spoke opposing the re-zoning.

A petition signed by approxiametly 26 properjty owners, opposing the
re zoning was read by the Secretary.

After discussion, J.O. Mall moved that the Commission recommend to the
Town Board, that Lots 5 and 6, and the South 25 feet of Lots 1 and 2,
and the So* 2? feet of Lot 4, of Block 2, of Reclamation Subdivision
be re-zoned from Residence to C-1 Commercial* Louie Canaiy seconded
the motion* Upon roll call members Miles, Canaiy and Mall voted Mye8M*
Member Hix stated that in his opinion this was "spot” zoning, that
in time the Forest Service might dispose of jthe property, and that
there were too many objections registered, therefore, voted "No11*

Mr. David Freeman, registered surveyor of Fort Collins, appeared before
the Commission, and presented a subdivision!plat, located in the N E i,
of the S* W. i of Sec. 26, T*5N. R. 73 W. |6th P.M. The subdivision
is to be for fesidences only and is owned by Mr. V/alter Brown. The
plat appearing to be in order, the Commission unanimously approved.

There being no further business, it was regularly moved and seconded
that the meeting adjourn. !
