HomeMy WebLinkAboutMINUTES Planning Commission 1991-06-05BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO.RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Planning Commission - Study Session June 5f 1991 Attending: Purpose: Chairman Sager, Commissioners Amos, Burgess, Wexler and Wood, Trustee/Liaison Garrett, Community Development Director Stamey, Intern Daniels-Mika, Jackie Hutchins/Trail Gazette To review the Town's draft "Stanley Historic District Proposal" Director Stamey reviewed said draft proposal and provided examples from Breckenridge. Discussion included: parking in relationship to maintaining view corridors; Auto Cad component for the plan; 15' power poles, high profile vehicles; stain of rock cuts; building design (photos presented); suggestion that the current light fixture color be maintained; cedar shingles—use of manufactured material. Comments included: the addition of the phase "scenic view" to the ordinance; include mazes as a non-permitted use; add the phrase "simulating original patina (natural appearance) in the ordinance; including "american southwest adobe-style" to ordinance; using a range of pitches for the development requirements; Building Official should provide assistance in establishing regulations; use of untreated or natural copper will reduce glare; suggest add glass to the list of wall finishings; suggest developing a percent ratio formula to address wall finishings; values of colors; suggest the Community Development Director use the "Munsell Book System"— discussion concerning cost; suggest on-going maintenance program to be included in the ordinance. Signs. Develop special signs, shorter in length for Development "D"; limit all signs in this designation. Concern expressed pertaining to sign height; suggestion: 6' in lieu of 10', 50 sq. ft./side, may exceed the 20 sq. ft. regulation up to 40 sq. ft., with the height not to exceed '—total sign to include pillars. Sian Lighting. Some opposition to black-lit signs; should follow building scheme (ref. 5.E. of proposal). The meeting was adjourned.
