BRADFORD PUBLISHING CO.RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS Planning Commission - July 19, 1988 - Page 2 Commissioner Hix noted that members of the Land Trust will be holding a breakfast meeting on August 5th and recommended that Town Administrator Klaphake and Planning Commission Chairman, A1 Sager, attend this meeting. After further discussion. Commissioner Garrett moved to recommend to the Town Board that the town become a member of the Estes Valley Land Trust, as recommended by Town Ad ministrator Klaphake, and contribute a minimum of $25, or more if the board so chooses. Commissioner Brown seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. 3.b. Discussion Regarding Nonconforming Section (17.66.320) and Awninq/Canopy Section (17.66.300 (3) of Sign Code. Planner Stamey reported that recently it has come to staff's attention that a couple of items in the sign code need to be reviewed. One is the present grandfather rule for non- conforming signs and the other deals with placement of awnings/canopies in relation to building height and roof line. At the present time, there is an expiration date of 6 1/2 years for signs that are non-conforming. He recommended looking at options where the grandfather rule might be implemented differently. He suggested the Planning Commis sion recommend to the Town Board that these two areas of the sign code be looked at more closely. Commissioner Brown moved to refer these items to the town board for review. Commissioner Barker seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Planner Stamey also reviewed the status of the zoning ordinance concerning the multi-family density rule. He stated that a public hearing was conducted at the July 12th town board meeting regarding the Planning Commission's recommendation on modifying this part of the zoning or dinance. He further stated that a considerable amount of discussion was heard regarding the potential change. He noted that a memo was sent to the town board along with a revised draft of the ordinance which incorporates some of the concerns expressed at the public hearing. This draft ordinance will be discussed further at the next town board meeting on July 26th. Following completion of all agenda items. Commissioner Blair commented about TV dish antennas and ways of regulating them. Planner Stamey stated information will be provided regarding local ability to regulate dish antennas. There being no further P.M. business, the meeting adjourned at 2:05 Carolyn Jones/ Secretary
