Planner Cole presented the Commission with a memorandum dated December 5, 1983, regarding the possibility of hiring an outside consultant to do the zoning revisions. Planner Cole stated that she had pre-qualified three firms as candidates for revising the Code, she also presented a draft of a Request for Qualifications. A lengthy discussion followed. Planner Cole stressed the importance of having someone who would be objective and could work with the community. The Planning Commission also discussed the possibility of including Chapter 16, Subdivision Regulations in the revision. The Planning Commission members individually expressed a desire to simplify the language and procedures in the Zoning Ordinance, without including Section 17.66 The Sign Code or Chapter 16, Subdivision Regulations. Member Richard Wood moved that the Planning Commission recommend to the Town Board that the staff send out Request for Qualifications from a minimum of three consultants. Member Steve Komito seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. A discussion followed on the timing.
