September 20, 1990 meeting were approved as prepared.
CITIZEN PARTICIPATION
John Mutchler/Estes Park expressed his concerns regarding land use
on the Knoll property and the proposed development for this site,
in particular:
1) Traffic control at the Hwy. 34/36 intersection;
2) The effect of a development, such as the factory outlet
stores, on tourists;
3) The addition of more retail square footage;
4) Obstruction of the view to the Stanley Hotel;
5) How this proposed development will tie into the
downtown, i.e. walks and/or people movers;
6) Whether Estes Park wants a tourist-based or commercial-
based economy;
7) What is going to happen to the future of downtown Estes
Park with respect to a new retail development at this
site;
8) What will occur if the proposed development is not
successful.
Sharon Seely/Estes Park noted that downtown parking is still a
problem, and questioned why uses for the Knoll property, other than
those indicated in the URA Plan, are being considered.
John Akal/Estes Park requested the URA Board consider submitting to
the Town, an alternative plan for land use on the Knoll property
and surrounding area — a plan in keeping with URA objectives.
Chairman Pauley noted that all these concerns are presently being
studied by EPURA.
