APPROVAL OF MINUTES Minutes of the Board of Adjustment meeting held April 5, 1990 were submitted and approved. 2. Barlow, Inc., 332 East Elkhorn Avenue. Request for Sign Variance Mr. Roger Thorp, representing Barlow, Inc., addressed the Board stating that applicant is requesting a modification to a condition of a variance granted on November 7, 1989. At that time, the Board of Adjustment granted a variance to locate two freestanding signs on Lot 2, Barlow Subdivision, with the condition no freestanding signs be located on Lots 1 and 2. Applicant is proposing to place a freestanding sign on Lot 1. Vice Chairman Sager read aloud excerpts from the November 7, 1989 Board of Adjustment minutes which stated that approval of the variance request to allow two freestanding signs on Lot 2, Barlow Subdivision was granted with the condition that no freestanding signs be permitted on Lots 1 and 3. After further review, Dick Barlow, applicant, suggested an alternative to the proposed freestanding sign could be placement of the sign directly over the entrance of the building with menu signs placed on the porch. Menu signs are exempt from the sign code provided they do not exceed 4 sq. ft. per face and a total of 8 sq. ft. Building Official Allman stated there would be no objection to this signage arrangement. Mr. Barlow withdrew his request for a variance. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
