ALTERATION OF NON-CONFORMING BUILDIN^
Member Laing cited a "conflict of interest", stated she would not
Participate in discussion or vote, and excused herself from the
panel. Mr. John Barlow, Builder/Designer, representing the
owner, appeared before the Board requesting a variance from
Section 17.68.070 to allow an 8^5' wide x 45' long addition to a
non-conforming building. A drawing was submitted for the Board's
review. The building is non-conforming due to a bay window which
does not meet the 8' setback requirement. The owner will demol
ish the building housing the "Dog House" fast-food restaurant,
remove the existing non-conforming overhang, and rebuild the
overhang to conform to the Uniform Building Code. The addition
■^ncrease '^he retail area by 50%. Effort has been made to
preserve the current appearance of the store, and improve the
the sidewalk encroachment. The alley way will be
Sh' wide and will allow the owner to have access to her property.
No correspondence or communication was received in favor of or in
opposition to the variance request. Member Sager, along with
other members of the Board, expressed appreciation to the proper-
y owner in undertaking this project and removing the protrusion
c®ldewal.k' brjnging the structure into conformance. Planner Stamey informed the Board a discussion had taken place
between the property owner and himself concerning the new-
y adopted parking requirements. Member Lamson moved the Lainq
ariance Request be approved. Member Brown seconded the motion
ana it passed unanimously.
