KENNETH E. and PATRICIA L. NELSON - SIGN VARIANCE - 433 SOUTH
SAINT VRAIN AVENUE:
Mr. Kenneth E. Nelson, owner of the Timberline Steakhouse located
at 433 - 447 South Saint Vrain Avenue, requested a sign variance
to allow a joint identification free-standing sign in addition to
an existing free-standing sign. Staff reports submitted by
Planner Stamey and Attorney White were read into the record.
Under Section 17.66.290 D of the Sign Code, it states "In no
event, however, shall the total allowable sign area exceed one
hundred fifty square feet." Building Inspector Jones reported
that the existing free-standing Timberline sign was 68 square
feet; the proposed joint identification sign 94-^2 square feet
(Better Homes and Gardens - 34-?5 square feet, sign boards - 60
square feet). Thus the total square footage of free-standing
signs would be 162-% square feet. Mr. Nelson stated he did not
realize the drawing exceeded the 150 square foot limitation and
offered to eliminate twelve feet (12') from the joint
identification sign to meet the Sign Code Regulations. Following
discussion. Member Lamson moved the sign variance be granted,
provided the total square footage of the free-standing signs do
not exceed 150 square feet. Member Laing seconded the motion and
it passed by the following votes: Those voting "Yes" Members
Richard A. Wood, Paula L. Laing and Jerry Lamson. Those voting
"No" Member Al Sager. The sign variance request was granted.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
