HERMAN - SETBACK VARIANCE:
The Board of Adjustment considered a request from Dwayne and Carol
Herman for a 6 foot setback variance from the required 8 foot setback
(Section 17.32.030). Mr. Bill Van Horn, representing the Hermans,
explained that because the building was damaged as a result of the
flood, the Hermans faced financial hardship and wished to expand
their building in order to make this a viable, recoverable financial
position. Mr. Van Horn also stated that granting the variance would
not be detrimental to the public at large. Mr. Herman, speaking
on his own behalf, explained that by granting the variance his
building would conform to the other buildings around him. He also
presented three letters from adjacent property owners who were in
favor of this variance:
James A. Durward............................................8/0 4/82
Ann Morrow .........................................................7/31/82
Lynn Pierson:.....................................................8/04/82
Mr. Bob Hockaday, of Grandpa's, spoke in favor of the variance. A
lengthy discussion followed. Member Margaret Houston moved that
the variance request be granted. Member Richard A. Wood seconded
the motion and it passed unanimously.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
