NOTICE OF APPEAL
Section 12.12-2 of Municipal Code of the Town of Estes Park pertaining
to signs.
Originally when I received the notice to move my sign in May, 1967, to comply
uith the sign ordinance for a setback of B feet from the property line,
proceeded to make plans accordingly. I partially disassembled the sign and
had planned on changing the location for compliance.
The ujord mas then passed doun highway 34 that ue would not be required to
move our signs due to the fact that we did not have sidewalks and
interfering with pedestrian traffic. So, I proceeded to reassemble my sig
and forgot'the whole matter until I received the request from the Building
Inspector, Mr., Hackett,
Now, this request for a sign move by the 1st day of August, I967. t° ^
is unjust under the circumstances and I would like an extension of ti
until'3this season is over. To move the sign now will work an undue hardship
on our operation here at the Hobby Horse Motor Lodge. It will entail
equipment working and the damaging of our landscaped area around the sign
with no chance of repair this late in the season,
I hereby waive notice of hearing and consent to a hearing on July 13, 1967.

Dear Sir:
Notice of Appeal
I hearty waive notice of a hearing and consent to a hearing on
July 13, 1967.
With regard to my large sign in front of the Gartner Haus, I
request relief from complying with the existing ordinance for the fol
lowing reasons:
(1) To move the sign south eight feet would result in a
serious traffic problem, as it would be too close
to the existing structure of the permanent building.
(2) The sign is not properly designed. If it were moved
back and raised up it would be top heavy and look as
though it were on stilts; this would not be attractive.
(3) Where the sign now is it can hardly be seen due to
being too low and too far back from the highway.
(4) When a property owner has over 200 feet frontage I
believe the same ordinance should not apply that
applies in a congested area.
If relief is not granted, I would request consideration be given
which would permit me to have a new sign designed, to conform, by the
spring of I968. The season is half over and it would be almost impossible
to do anything this year.
The reason nothing was done earlier this year was that I was
informed that a plan coiild be vrorked out for the large signs on Highway Jk,
,John W. Schlendorf
