Chairman Barker called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.
MARKETING
Advertising Report: Manager Marsh distributed copies of ^ the^ insert
titled Season of Festivals, which will appear this Sunday in six Front
Range newspapers. The August issue of Rocky Mountain Motorist magazine
included an article on Estes Park.
Manager Marsh presented the following data and reviewed associated
graphs:

One of the five master telephone lines at the Chamber of Commerce has
been repaired. It is not known how long the line was down or what
affect it had on the call stats.
Results of the mail-back telephone survey revealed that Estes ,Pa
Rocky Mountain National Park led all major Colorado destinations visite
last summer (62%) by Front Range residents. This was based
destinations - those visited most frequently and favorite single
destinations. Breckenridge and Colorado Springs are “a3-. lt0r

conference Center Report: Director Pickering distributed tbe a"b
Ice Conference brochure, noting the piece was produced in-house through
the Conference Services office. Due to an extensive marketing campaign,
Sis conference is predicted to be the biggest conference held at the
Center with 1,200 to 1,500 attendees and 300 exhibitors. Conference
Center Coordinator Linda Larson is handling all registrations.

The Committee recommends approval of the 1998-99 Rooftop Rodeo Committee
as presented. Trustee Marshall commended the Rooftop Rodeo Committee
for their efforts and enthusiasm leading to the success of the rodeo
activities.
Parade Permits: The Carriage Association of America requested a parade
permit for September 19th, 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Approximately 40 horse-
drawn carriages will start at the Fairgrounds on Ave., P^°ceed
to Hwy. 7, Hwy. 36, Elkhorn Ave., and turn around at the West Elkhorn
parking lot (oYr the' lot across the street) to return to the Jarrground
by the same route. Captain Filsinger has approved this route. Streets
will not be closed; instead the carriages will be escorted by the
police This parade will not interfere with the Fine Arts Guild show,
which is scheduled at the same time. The Committee recommends approval
of the Carriage Association of America parade permit as presented.
Event Evaluations: The following events were critiqued:
Roof too Rodeo: Activities included rodeos, parade, and dances.
sales increased by 980, a record for rodeo attendance was se , an

Marsh promote this show in future advertising.
Westernaires: Good Attendance during the two-day event.
Gold Wing Motorcycle Rally: This was the first year ^oldha”g2^
