CONFERENCE CENTER MARKETING.
Marketing Director Pickering distributed a copy of the
International Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (lACVB)
bylaws and a fact sheet, suggesting the Town consider 1991
membership in this organization, in lieu of the International
Association of Conference Centers (lACC) membership. Director
Pickering stated the information received as a result of membership
in the IACC was not particularly useful for Estes Park's Conference
Center business, at this time; however, membership in the lACVB
will realize more opportunities in this regard, as well as provide
information on continuing educational programs. lACVB maintains a
business database of meetings history and, monthly "lead" sheets
are mailed to members. lACVB membership is $825.00/year, beginning
July 1, 1991. An amount of $1,000.00 was budgeted for this item.
Neighboring communities who belong to lACVB include Denver,
Boulder, Fort Collins, Greeley, and Colorado Springs.
The Committee recommends 1991 membership in the International
Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus at a cost of $825.00.
1990 CENSUS.
Community Development Director Stamey referred to his January 17,
1991 memo to Mr. William F. Adams/Regional Director, Bureau of the
Census, wherein Director Stamey stated the Town of Estes Park
remains concerned regarding the 1990 census results for Estes Park,
in that they are totally inaccurate and unacceptable. Director
Stamey will follow up on this matter.
REPORTS.
Staff displayed a publication from the Colorado Office of Business
Development, noting the magazine's interest with respect to
community living and business and its relation to the natural
environment.
A Conference Center ad prepared under the direction of Advertising
Manager Marsh was submitted to the Committee. A local Holiday Inn
brochure was also presented for the Committee's information.
Town Administrator Klaphake noted that, as a result of the dollar
amount adopted by the Town for 1991 occupation license fees, a
cutback of the advertising program is anticipated. Staff will
prepare an advertising history and projections for the Committee's
review.
Lauren Dannels/Board of Realtors informed the Committee the Larimer
County Housing Advisory Board met in Fort Collins to review and
discuss short-term/long-term goals. None of the new CHA's received

certificates; however, plans are to reapply. The Board of Realtors

Department, to discuss a possible follow up to the Forward Estes
Park Foundation's housing study and, future goals for affordable
housing in Estes Park.
Trustee Garrett reported on the activities of the Children's Center
Committee which will meet on February 18, 1991 to review possible
sites for the Center, as well as financing alternatives.
The Cultural Arts Council has reorganized its Board to include
additional members of the Arts community. Lynda Vogel has been
hired by the Board as a part-time, contract employee. Trustee
Garrett, the Board's liaison, stated one of the Council's projects
is the Town's 75th anniversary celebration.
There being no further business. Trustee Garrett adjourned the
meeting at 2:45 P.M.
