Advertiseno Manager. Community Development Director introduced, and the Committee welcomed, Peter Marsh who has been named Advertising Manager under the Community Department. Mr. Marsh will be responsible for coordinating advertising design and placement, public relations, and fulfillment of the Town's $600,000 advertising budget. A press release being distributed to front-range and advertising media announcing this selection. AdvertisincT Program. The 1991 Advertising Program will emphasize the following changes: 1. 2. 3. 4. Parking Lots. Staff suggested using an animal theme (to animals native to the area) to name the 13 existing parking lots. A symbol of the animal could be placed on a round disc which could be mounted in each lot. Examples were; elk, deer, big horn sheep, etc. fThe Committee recommends approval of the animal theme, authorizing Director Stamey and the appropriate departments to proceed. Perhaps the Police Department can distribute a pamphlet so identifying the parking lots for use by the entire community. Parks. Following review, the Committee recommends approval of the following Park designations: Riverwalk to Big Thompson RiverwalkWest Riverside to West Riverside ParkPoisontoChildren's ParkPeacocktoFall River Park COMPUTER - AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE. Staff requested authorization to purchase a computer for use by the Advertising Manager. Three bids were solicited, and with the 2% local vendor credit. Long's Peak Computers is the low bidder with a bid of $1,728.39. Sufficient funds were budgeted for this expenditure. The Committee recommends approval of the purchase from Long's Peak Computers, for $1,728.39. MACGREGOR RANCH - ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER. John Prasuhn, Education Coordinator with the Northern Colorado Board of Cooperative Educational Services, briefed the Committee on the environmental education program being developed at MacGregor Ranch. Mr. Prasuhn began his employment July 1, 1990 and is attempting to coordinate the use of the ranch by the Park R-3 Thompson R-2J, and St. Vrain Valley RE-IJ school district. In addition, Mr. Prasuhn is attempting to develop a funding base to support the program and construction of future educational facilities. The goal of the environmental education portion of the program is to begin fostering an appreciation of nature and to muC1 V-tate-a c°nnectl°n between the students and their environment. The Kiwanis Club and Lutheran Brotherhood have offered their assistance, and Mr. Prasuhn is soliciting a "letter of endorsement" fnnvo-iS1!6 T^OVTv discussion, the Committee recommends approval of the request, authorizing the Mayor to issue such a letter of endorsement.
