VISUAL ART GUIDELINES FOR CONFERENCE CENTER - REQUEST APPROVAL. As the Town has no budget to purchase art for the Estes Park Conference Center, staff requested Lynda Vogel, Executive Director/Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park (C.A.C.E.P.), to investigate whether art exhibits could be provided "on loan." Such a program is feasible, and a Visual Arts Panel, consisting of Bob McFarland/Art Center, Hugh Beckham/Fine Arts Guild, Jenny Kosenka/Galleries of Estes Park Association, Corky Hays/Artists in Residence/RMNP, Bob Joseph/Town Staff, and Lynda Vogel/Cultural Arts Council has been formed. The special exhibit will be known as "Expression of the Rockies" and exhibit finalists will be chosen by the aforestated panel. Director Vogel reviewed the proposed guidelines. All artists currently residing in Estes Park, Allenspark, Drake, Pinewood Springs and the Glen Haven area are eligible. The media accepted will be drawings, paintings, fiber, sculpture, photography, pottery, printmaking, glass, handmade paper and metals. Discussion concerning security/insurance liability followed. The Committee recommends approval of the guidelines as presented, directing staff to verify with Town Attorney White, potential exposure of "loss through theft." 1991 ADVERTISING PROGRAM - REPORT. The Committee reviewed current statistics and year-to-date comparisons as of June 30, 1991: increase of 38.5% in inquiries, cost/inquiry of $2.90 as compared to $3.40; and an increase of 44% in incoming 800 calls. The National Geographic Traveler included an excellent article for the area, and the Summer/Rodeo insert was produced and placed in front-range newspapers.
