Chairman Barker called the Committee meeting to order at 2:00 P.M.
TOWN OF ESTES PARK - CELEBRATION OF 75TH ANNIVERSARY.
The Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park (C.A.C.E.P.) was previously
delegated the responsibility of coordinating the Town's 75th
Anniversary. Due to re-organization of C.A.C.E.P., and potential
Museum involvement, the Committee recommends Trustee Garrett be
authorized to assemble a committee (to exclude C.A.C.E.P. and
include the Museum), and prepare a budget for this project, for
submittal to the Committee by September, 1991.
CHILDRENS' CENTER - UPDATE.
Trustee Garrett presented a proposed floor plan for the Childrens'
Center which was prepared by Thorp Associates. To date, the
architect has not charged for his services. It is anticipated the
center may be constructed for $190,000. A tentative schedule
identifying the sequence of events from reports to the opening
(May, 1992), plus an outline of income tax/charitable contribution
were presented. Pledges for construction and operation previously
totalled $110,000; however, two major contributors may not
participate at this time, and to date, $10,000 has been pledged.
A Coordinating Committee, consisting of representatives from the
Town, School Board/Administration/Staff, AAUW, and Creative Kids
has been working on this project. Other such providers have no
objection to this plan as the Center is aimed at "latchkey"
children between the ages of 5-12. At a later date, a final plan
will be submitted for review. The Committee expressed their
appreciation to Trustee Garrett for her participation in this
project. Trustee Garrett requested pledges from the community and
advised donations should be made payable to the Town of Estes Park
Childrens' Center.
CONFERENCE CENTER - UPDATE.
Logo and Collateral. Director Pickering presented a sample logo
for the conference center which included the mountain peaks, as
well as the sandstone rose and sage green colors which are
reflected in the center. The logo will be used on all printed
materials, including such items as signage and podiums. Letterhead
will be printed on recycled paper as directed. The Committee
recommends approval of the logo as presented.
Position Title Amendment. Director Pickering requested his "title"
be amended from Marketing Director to that of Sales and Marketing
Director. In the marketplace, it is important to identify who
Director Pickering is and why he is seeking their business. ^ The
aforementioned logo will also be used on Director Pickering's
business cards. The Committee recommends approval of the title
zunendment as discussed.
Conference Center Activities. The Committee reviewed an outline of
the first 90 days of Operation which identified conferences

beginning in September, 1991. A "sales packet" is being prepared,
and, with the assistance of the Trail Gazette, press releases and
articles covering specific groups will be forthcoming.^ Trustee
Garrett suggested the packet include the list of activities/events
in Estes Park.
Grand Opening. Director Pickering reported that the Grand Opening
has been scheduled from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, August
24th. Following discussion, the committee recommends approval of
the grand opening date.
ADVERTISING PROGRAM - UPDATE.
Community Development Director Stamey reviewed the Advertising
Program, acknowledging the "Endless Vacation" article (April
edition) on RMNP, the color ad entitled "Exceptional" which will be
placed in upcoming issues of the Rocky Mountain News and Denver
Post, Rooftop Rodeo Poster and rack card. Statistical results as
of April 30 were also reviewed. Pursuant to a recent
Mountain News survey, Estes Park was selected as the readership
favorite destination.
AS directed by the Administrative Committee, staff has met with the
news media and a series of four articles ^ifat thls loveraojnr-ncrram has been prepared. It is anticipated that this coverage
will eliminate the misunderstandings of the Town's participation in
funding advertising.
