Chairman Barker called the meeting of the Community Development Commit
tee to order at 2:14 P.M.
1990 CHRISTMAS PARADE - REVIEW OF PROPOSED BUDGET/ACTIVITIES.
The Committee reviewed a proposed budget in the amount of $15,000 for
the Christmas Parade scheduled November 23, 1990. Staff reported: (1)
Connie Boschen has been retained as the Parade Coordinator; (2) the
route will be extended; (3) there will be no obstructions located on
Elkhorn Avenue; (4) alternative/satellite parking areas are being
discussed; and (5) all-day activities are being planned. Staff also
advised that Stanley Park support services were being proposed, as well
as a lease/purchase of a sound system which could be used on a
year-round basis. The Committee recommends approval of the 1990 Budget
($15,000), providing support services from Stanley Park, and the
lease/purchase of a sound system, encouraging additional funding from
the private sector.
