Chairman Barker called the meeting of the Community Development
Committee to order at 2:03 P.M.
FORWARD ESTES PARK FOUNDATION - REQUEST FOR FUNDING.
Updating the Committee on the Foundation's proposed Housing
Study, Eric Blackhurst reported that Rosall Remmen and Cares,
have verbally been obtained (at a cost of approximately $9,200 -
$10,500), and they will begin collecting data in the near future.
Funding has been committed by the Rocky Mountain National Park,
Board of Realtors, Estes Park Bank, and the Foundation itself.
EPURA has obligated $1,500 if the fund raising effort reaches
$8,500. Mr. Blackhurst formally requested the Town to donate
$500 from the PRPA Economic Development funds. The Foundation
will also seek funds from the PSCo., U. S. West, and the Larimer
County Department of Human Development. Administrator Klaphake
commented that a recent newspaper headline that stated EPURA was
"to study housing" was incorrect, that in actuality, the Forward
Estes Park Foundation was commissioning the study. Staff con
firmed adequate funds were in the Budget for this expenditure,
and the Committee recommends the Foundation's request for $500
for the housing study be approved.
REPORTS.
Director Stamey advised that he has requested the Museum Board to
offer suggestions for any names that might add historical
significance for the renaming of Peacock, West Riverside, and
Poison Parks. This item will be considered in August.
A Census Enumerator will be located in the Municipal Building on
July 13, 16 and 17 in an effort to complete Estes Park's census.
The community may have experienced a 25% "undercount", and, as
previously stated, it is essential everyone be counted. Director
Stamey will attend a census meeting this week and he advised that
when the final count is received, the Town will have 15 days to
review and comment. The figures should be available by the end
of August.
There being no further business. Chairman Barker adjourned the
meeting at 2:19 P.M. to Executive Session to discuss testimony
given in confidence.
