HomeMy WebLinkAboutPROCLAMATION Weaver, Jean 2017-09-13Qftt.Jark,(otorabo to clamation ‘WhEREAS,Jean Weaver was important to many organizations in the Estes Valley,and throughout the USA, including but not limited to,the Bear Education Task force, Beaver Point Association,Colorado Mountain Club, Community Recycling Committee,Estes Park High School Choir,Friends and Unitarians,Great Old Broads for the Wilderness,Hidden Valley Ski Resort (20 years as instructor), League of Women Voters,The Nature Conservancy, Parkinson’s Support Group,Patriots for Peace,Plantation Restaurant,Thursday Hiking Club,and the Women’s Land Army;and MTHEREAS,Jean has been declared a “living legend”and her activities have been commemorated by books,newspapers,and awards throughout her lifetime;and ‘WHEREAS,Jean was the heart of the Estes Valley recycling efforts for over 40 years,working closely with Estes Park High School, Ecocycle,Pixie Gas and Car Wash,A-i Trash,plus the League of Women Voters and Community Recycling Committee;and ‘t’VHEREAS,Jean passed away August iS,2017 and her Celebration of Life will be September 13,2017;and WHEREAS,Jean never quit.Despite health issues,including Parkinson’s Disease,she remained active throughout her lifetime,still attending meetings a few weeks before passing.She set an example for all of us, inspiring us to remain true to our own ideals and beliefs,and devote time and effort to their achievement. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Town of Estes Park do hereby acknowledge September 13, 2017,as JEAN WEAVER DAY In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused this seal to be affixed.
